For further expansion of a large scale plantation forestry project in Ghana we're looking for entrepreneurial CEO.
The Country
Ghana's rich history centers on the once-great Ashanti empire, which rose to power during the late 17th century and continued to prosper as a center of the 18th century slave trade. The Ashanti capital, Kumasi, was during this period one of the finest and most advanced cities in Africa. In recent decades Ghana has been moving steadily toward political stability and economic prosperity, and seems today to possess one of the most promising futures of any of the African nations.
The job
Currently some 250 hectares of forest plantation are planted with mainly Tectona grandis. We acquired a further 10,000 hectares for expansion of the plantation. These hectares have to be developed to a state of the art forest plantation with mainly lucrative indigenous tree species and, as is usual for Sicirec's projects, at least 25% of ecological corridors and nature conservation.
You will start to help develop a business plan for the newly acquired hectares and beef up activities to a higher level of professionality. The current CEO, who initiated the company and is to retire, will coach you in the first year to help you get started and find your way in Ghana. You report to the management in The Netherlands.
Your qualifications
We are looking for a highly motivated entrepreneurial spirit with natural leadership. You are capable to further shape and organize a plantation forestry company. Preferably you have some forestry background, you have affection with nature conservation and have work experience in Africa or other tropical countries. You are fluent in English, in writing as well as verbally.
